OUR COMPANY HISTORY

Back in 1951, Richard Mannion opened Mannion Pump Service on Ottawa Street in Mechanicsville. The twenty-year-old Richard soon outgrew the tiny shop and relocated to Clarence Street in the Byward Market. Mannion Pump Service earned a great reputation for service and quality on both the Ontario and Quebec sides of the Ottawa river. The next move was to Clyde Avenue near Carling to larger digs in the early seventies. The new name was The Pump House, later changed to Mannion’s Pump House as a nod to the recognized family name.

After graduating from university in 1983, Richard’s son Sean joined his father to carry on the tradition of service excellence. The expansion of city water infrastructure and the rise of the Big Box Store would eventually undermine the brisk pump repair, sales and service that once carried the firm. There was a need to pivot. The Mannions saw an untapped market which was fuel oil tank removal and replacement and other petroleum related mechanical contracting. In 2002 Mannion Petroleum was born!
